Just when fall was upon us, we got blessed with a beautiful summer day for a Louisville engagement session. Ashley & Jon fell in love at University of Louisville, so we hit up their good 'ol stomping grounds for their engagement session - St. James Court and Central Park. Their love and laugher was contagious.
Louisville just got better now that these two are back "home" from the Big Apple. After meeting in NYC, traveling the world together, and living the big city life - their next chapter as soon-to-be husband & wife takes place in Louisville, Kentucky.
I can't wait to see Lisa & Nick pursue their dreams togethers. Together, they are going to shake up this world.
Many brides and grooms dream of the perfect spring or fall engagement session. But not Cara and Jesse. For them it wasn't about the season. They simply couldn't wait to share the exciting news of their New Years engagement. So forget green grass, fall colors, or even white snow for that matter.
The Falls of the Ohio was a beautiful backdrop to incorporate interesting details into an otherwise dreary, winter day. The neutrals became alive with sun-kissed textures of the rocks, the driftwood, and the trees. Every trail we walked down had a unique and different look. For me, I was in creative heaven.
So here you have it. Engagement sessions (and weddings for that matter!) are officially beautiful no matter what time of year. But what really matters the most is the love story of the bride and groom.

A little part of me jumps for joy when I get a wedding inquiry. When my old Cincinnati neighbor, Heather, asked me to be their Wedding Photographer ... I maybe did some back flips! Although I now live in Louisville, I still love the opportunity to be a part of my friend's (old & new) special moments. Heather and Chris got engaged during an evening walk at Ault Park, so it was a no-brainer to revisit the scene with an Ault Park engagement session. The fall colors were in full bloom, making it one of my favorite seasons for engagement sessions. Looking forward to celebrating with them again this Spring!

Emily & Brandon picked great locations, outfits, and their favorite season for their engagement photos. While we had 2 straight weeks of rain, the weather held off just when we needed it most. The beautiful fall colors turned a drab, gray day into the perfect backdrop for their Louisville engagement session. Their newest addition to the family, Bodhi, made an appearance too. He could charm anyone with those baby blue eyes (Dog Hill beware!).
And if you didn't notice, I LOVE shoe shots.
Can't wait for their Louisville wedding this Spring!
When Ellie & Alex contacted me about their Louisville wedding in July, it seemed like we had been friends for years! As I was getting caught up on their love story, it was a no-brainer to offer them a Chicago engagement session. Not only is Chicago where the Louisville Bride and Nashville Groom currently live, but also my hometown. I was then on a mission to scout the perfect engagement session location that was "Chicago" while at the same time being "natural". Lightology and Northerly Island stood out on the list, and the locations couldn't have turned out more perfect!
What you can't tell from the photos is how un-perfect the Chicago weather was during our session. Thank goodness the calm blue sky made the low 40º temps and wind bearable. They don't call it The Windy City for nothing.
It was a blast capturing their love in the north, and I can't wait until their Louisville wedding back home in the south.
